Hello! I’m Ashley Ann from Under the Sycamore. It is an privilege to be a part of this series. Today I’m going to share a very simple idea that you could customize a hundred ways to fit your taste and style. When my boys give their teachers a gift, I always want to include a personal note from our family. I think gifts are an a great way to show appreciation, but a hand written note telling a teacher why we are thankful for her (we’ve only had female teachers so far) is so important too. So, here’s my little “Message In A Bottle”…which can be turned into complimenting bud vases after the note is read!
Supplies:
- Small glass bottles (mine are from Micheals $.99)
- Scrap lace (mine is an old curtain I found at a garage sale)
- Scrap fabric
- Decoupage
- Small clothespin & tag
Begin by adhering the lace to the jars. I trimmed the lace down to the size I wanted then glued it to the glass by applying decoupage directly to the glass and again on top of the lace. It takes a lot of decoupage, just coat the lace thoroughly and smooth with your fingers. Let dry. I chose to leave one edge loose in order to fold it over later.
On one jar, I wrapped scrap fabric down the jar. I started with a knot hot glued to the lace and then twisted the fabric as I went to add some texture.
Either you or the student can write a thank you note to the teacher receiving the gift. Roll it tightly and secure the cute tape.

I then attached a little card to the front. For homeroom teachers, I might attach a gift card here too.
Super easy to create and customize. Have fun crafting and celebrating the teachers in your life!
